Surgery,
through a keyhole.

I'm Dr Prashant Philip Das, a minimal access surgeon in Hebbal, Bengaluru. Advanced laparoscopic and laser techniques mean smaller incisions, less pain, and a faster return to your life — for hernias, gallbladder disease, piles, varicose veins, weight-loss surgery, and complex abdominal surgery.

Areas of Practice

Focused expertise.
Precise techniques.

Every condition below is treated with the least invasive approach that is safe and right for you — laparoscopy and laser first, open surgery only when it truly serves you better.

Laparoscopic Hernia & Abdominal Wall Reconstruction

Inguinal, umbilical, incisional and complex ventral hernias repaired through keyhole ports — including advanced reconstruction (eTEP, TAPP, component separation) for large defects and recurrences.

Laser Proctology

Daycare laser treatment for piles (haemorrhoids), anal fissures, fistula-in-ano and pilonidal sinus — minimal pain, no large wounds, and most patients go home the same day.

Laparoscopic GI Surgery

Keyhole surgery for gallbladder stones, appendicitis, and other gastrointestinal conditions — performed with precision optics and energy devices for faster, gentler recovery.

General Surgery

Comprehensive surgical care — lumps and swellings, abscesses, hydrocele, circumcision, lipomas, cysts and emergency surgical conditions, managed end-to-end.

Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgery

Experience in surgery of the liver, pancreas and biliary system — including complex gallbladder disease and bile duct conditions, in coordination with multidisciplinary teams.

Laparoscopic Bariatric (Weight-Loss) Surgery

Keyhole weight-loss surgery for people living with obesity and related conditions such as diabetes — assessed carefully, and offered only where it is clinically appropriate and after non-surgical options have been discussed.

Laser Treatment for Varicose Veins

Minimally invasive endovenous laser treatment for varicose veins — no long incisions, less bruising, and a quicker return to being on your feet than with conventional vein stripping.

Second Opinions & Surgical Counselling

Unsure whether you really need surgery, or which approach is right? Bring your reports for an honest, unhurried opinion — sometimes the best advice is to wait.

Why Minimal Access

Three small incisions.
One big difference.

Minimal access (laparoscopic / keyhole) surgery achieves the same operation as open surgery — through incisions a few millimetres wide, guided by a high-definition camera.

Conventional

Open surgery

  • Single long incision (often 10–20 cm)
  • More post-operative pain
  • Longer hospital stay
  • Larger scar, higher wound complication risk
  • Slower return to work and activity
Minimal Access

Laparoscopic / laser surgery

  • Keyhole ports of 5–10 mm
  • Significantly less pain & medication
  • Most patients home in 24–48 hours*
  • Tiny, fading scars
  • Back to routine in days, not weeks*
5–10 mmtypical port size
Daycarelaser proctology procedures
HD 4Kcamera-guided precision
Fasterrecovery & return to work*

*Recovery times vary by individual, condition and procedure. Your surgeon will discuss what to expect in your specific case.

Inside the Operating Theatre

Where precision
meets light.

Modern minimal access surgery happens on a screen: a high-definition laparoscope illuminates the field while fine instruments work through keyhole ports.

Questions Patients Ask

Honest answers,
no jargon.

Is laparoscopic surgery safe?
Yes — laparoscopic surgery is the global standard of care for many conditions, including gallbladder removal and most hernia repairs. Like any surgery it carries risks, which I will discuss with you transparently. The advantage is smaller wounds, less pain, fewer wound infections, and faster recovery for most patients.
How soon can I go back to work?
Most patients after laparoscopic gallbladder or hernia surgery return to desk work within about a week, and daycare laser proctology patients often even sooner. Heavy lifting and strenuous activity take longer. Your exact timeline depends on your condition, your job and your healing — we'll plan it together.
Do piles always need surgery?
No. Early-grade piles often respond to diet, fluids, fibre and medication. Laser treatment is for piles that bleed persistently, prolapse, or significantly affect your quality of life. I will always tell you honestly if you don't need a procedure.
What is mesh, and is it safe?
Surgical mesh is a sterile, medical-grade material used to reinforce hernia repairs and dramatically reduce recurrence. Modern meshes used in laparoscopic repair have a strong safety record. I'll explain the type of mesh planned for you, why, and the alternatives.
Is treatment covered by insurance?
Most laparoscopic and laser procedures are covered by health insurance and cashless schemes, subject to your policy terms. The hospital's insurance desk can verify your coverage before admission — bring your policy details to the consultation.
Can I get a second opinion before deciding?
Absolutely — and you should, if you're uncertain. Bring your existing reports and scans. A good surgical decision is an informed one, and I'm happy to be your first or second opinion.
